Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has said that he will be sticking with Stephen Warnock for the moment. Alex McLeish has had the temptation to introduce youngster Enda Stevens into the first-team.
However, he has now confirmed that Stephen Warnock will now remain as his first choice left back. Aston Villa have been struggling for form this season. New manager Alex McLeish has certainly not endeared it to the Aston Villa faithful after playing a negative brand of football.
Even with the negative brand of football, he has not been able to get the results that were expected of him. As a result, Aston Villa face a tough fight to get even into the top half of the table.
There have been a few doubts regarding Aston Villa left back Stephen Warnock. There have been calls amongst the Aston Villa faithful for the introduction of youngster Enda Stevens into the first-team, which will put the current status of Stephen Warnock into doubt. However, McLeish has confirmed that he will be taking some time regarding the decision to put Enda Stevens into the first-team. He confirmed that this is certainly not the right time to put the youngster into the squad, as it would not help him in any way.
“We bought him a boy in from the Irish league and people are asking where he is? He is not someone to rush. He has trained with the first team. He is comfortable on the ball and he will get his chance sometime but there are a couple even more experienced lads just ahead of him,” said McLeish.
Stephen Warnock scored an own goal against QPR. Aston Villa are currently in the 15th position in the table, just a few points about the relegation zone. They have 28 points on the board right now.
