Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has called on the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp to drop Senegalese winger Sadio Mane as the player has been off-form lately and does not deserve a starting spot in the team for now.
Liverpool lost the game by 3-1 as they were brilliantly outclassed and outplayed by Zinedine Zidane’s impressive group of goal-hungry players who carried out their job remarkably. Liverpool’s only goal came through Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah but a couple of misses by the Reds’ Forwards including Mane and Salah meant they would take the tie to Anfield with a two-goal deficit.
Klopp and his players are banking on an Anfield miracle as they prepare for the second leg, but while Warnock believes his former side could still be in the tie, he Insists that Mane should not be starting the second leg unless he can up his performances in the next days.
Speaking after the Madrid game, Warnock said that he’s sorry but Mane should not start the second leg because he’s currently out of form and it would be risky including him in games as crucial as the Madrid fixture.
Mane is a clear Jurgen Klopp favorite and he’s earned that status given that he has been one of the best players under the German manager but his current form is an issue of major concern and Warnock says the club should not gamble on it.
